Capitol Heights, MD – March 18, 2005 – Stars of Tomorrow Youth Foundation announces today the start of a unique new program “READERS OF TOMORROW” geared towards African-American young women on April 22, 2005 from 6:30.p.m until 9:00.p.m at the Seat Pleasant Recreation Center in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. “Self Awareness & Self Image: Changing Your Thinking” Empowerment Seminar is based on the book authored by Katrina Moore of Stars of Tomorrow Youth Foundation based in Capitol Heights Maryland. This is the first series of seminars to come that teaches, young women who wants their voices heard and their dreams taken seriously. So tell us...What's on your mind? What are your dreams? What do you worry about? What makes you happy? What drives you crazy? Tell us about great things that women are doing today! Readers for Tomorrow W.R.A.P, is a program designed to help teens deal with the issues of growing up in today's society one situation at a time. The pressures of drugs and alcohol, peer pressure, gang activities, teen pregnancy, school and home life can be the cause of serious problems for our girls. Readers for Tomorrow seeks to aid youth and teens with these issues and others through the help of trained professionals. The student can write a mini-novel on herself or other people in their community.

It also teaches how to start a daily journal through poetry written by the individual. Readers for Tomorrow are young girls who want to be Authors. This group is a diverse group of young girls soon to be women from Metropolitan area; who bring the voices of girls to life. The group discuss about Life, Friendships, and sisterhood. They meet and share information with other groups of girls and young women across the country and work toward positive change with other girls and the community. Readers for Tomorrow, part of the SoTYF " S.T.A.R.S. " Student Trying Achieve Respect and Success initiative, It’s designed to transform existing early education programs into centers of excellence that provide high-quality, early education to young children, especially those from low-income families. The overall purpose of the Readers for Tomorrow Program is to prepare young girls with the necessary language, cognitive, and early reading skills to prevent reading difficulties and ensure school success. The purpose of the program is to encourage girls to read; enhancing and developing literacy and communication skills. We also encourage parents, teachers, staff members and community members to read actively with the girls. Readers for Tomorrow programs are one of the best bargains around! They are offered free of charge to all girls. Moms are encouraged to participate as well.

“If we could effectively communicate to our children the struggle that we have endured and at the same time hoping that they would learn from our mistakes, there’s the possibility that they might enjoy a more fulfilling life,” says President & CEO, of Stars of Tomorrow Youth Foundation. Through poetry these young women will be enlightened and encouraged to improve their self-esteem and self-image. Katrina Moore is a poet, author and motivational speaker. Mrs. Moore has been teaching poetry and creative writing and self-empowerment workshops for the past two years and writing for ten years. Included in this seminar for the first time, will be the new book, “Changing Your Thinking” that will guide the reader step by step and on their way to better a healthier self esteem.
